Club favourite Craig Logan was hoping to make it a hat-trick of wins this week, but as soon as he was given Peg one at the draw he knew he had little chance in competing with the better pegs on the lake. Even drawing the Golden Peg couldn’t improve his mood…
It was apparent from the off that the bottom end of the pond was fishing better with most competitors catching from the start with Dieter Woodings on Peg 15 and Mick Burke on Peg 24 getting off to a great start.
As the match progressed Jim Marcer on Peg 8 was starting to catch really well from his margin and looked to be the one to beat. Ian Bradley on Peg 5 was struggling to catch in open water so was having to fish into a snaggy area to get a bite but was catching.
Going into the last hour Jim was still catching well but Ian Shaw on Peg 10 was really making a move. Ian switched to fishing paste down his margin and it paid off catching several big Carp.
1st Jim Marcer – 82lb 9oz
2nd Ian Shaw – 57lb 1oz
3rd Ian Bradley – 43lb 1oz
4th Mick Burke – 36lb 4oz
