Angling Trust COVID-19

Angling Trust Statement

We must all do what is required of us by the Government and work together to fight this pandemic. Therefore until further notice we should all refrain from fishing. This is about saving lives and supporting the NHS.

In regards to the current restrictions announced by the Government on Monday 23 March 2020 it is clear that the only permitted activities that have been specified are walking, running and cycling for the purpose of local daily exercise. Today we have written to the Sports Minister highlighting the benefits to both physical health and mental wellbeing that angling provides and that we are ready and prepared to offer whatever support the government or Sport England require now or in the future to get people back fishing as soon as is safely possible.

We will post updates for all anglers on our dedicated support pages

Many thanks, stay safe and look after each other,

NO FISHING ON STANTON WATERS

Due to last night’s announcement from the Government on Covid-19 we reluctantly have put a ban on fishing our waters until further notice. We have to follow the guidelines set out by the Government. Please respect the ban and don’t fish our waters, our bailiffs will be checking our waters and will remove any members seen fishing. Please be aware the combination locks have been changed. Keep a eye on the website and our Facebook page for updates. Many thanks.

Privates Match 08-03-2019

Privates Match 08-03-2020

We had a good turn out considering the bad weather the night before with 14 in total fishing the match. This meant there was plenty of room for all anglers with everyone having a spare peg to one side. Because of the bad weather and this being the first match on Privates this year we were unsure of the best areas to draw and whether the newly stocked fish would feed. It turned out to be a hard match all over the pond with bites hard to come by but this also made for a fair match and gave everyone a chance of winning. It was nice to see the top 3 came from different areas of the pond. First place went to Danny Gaetto – Danny had drawn peg 13 and made the decision to fish with pellet and corn which turned out to be a good one as he caught small carp, F1s and the odd skimmer. Adam drew on the road side of the pond and caught manly silvers, fishing casters short on the pole. Jonathon fished the pole over ground bait, catching small skimmers, the odd F1 and a bonus 3lb bream.

1st Danny Gaetto:  11lb 12oz – Peg 13

2nd Adam Logan:  10lb 8oz – Peg 16

3rd Jonathon Leivers:  7lb 3oz – Peg 4

The Future Looks Bright

The committee would like to thank all members for their continued support of the club. When so many clubs are on the decline our membership has increased every year for the past 7 years. It’s because of this fantastic support that we are able to give free membership to our junior members.

Work Parties

The committee needs help with the upkeep of the club. Please keep an eye out on Facebook and the club’s notice boards to see when the next work party is – any help is very welcome.

The next work party is planned for Saturday 22nd February 2020 – 9am until 12pm.

Stocking

We have yet again stocked our waters for the 7th year in a row. We have stocked over 10,000 fish into Roughs, Privates and the Canal with Roach, Bream, Carp, Tench  and Barbel – ENJOY!
